Community Resource Centre - 38 Church Road |
| The
Community Resource Centre at 38 Church Road, Burgess Hill is, as its name implies a
resource for use by the people of Burgess Hill. It houses a number
of organisations dedicated to helping people in a variety of ways, ranging
from advice to help with day-to-day living.
The Centre has been provided by
Burgess Hill Town Council in its former offices. Read on and find

| The CAB offers free, confidential advice
on any subject, ranging from debt to housing, immigration to law. It
also recommends improvements to local and national policy, based on the
experience of clients' problems.
CAB is an independent body and gives
impartial advice. Ninety percent of the personnel involved
nationally are volunteers and more are needed. Last year Burgess
Hill's Bureau handled over nine thousand issues, many relating to
benefits, housing, employment and debt. The Bureau also undertakes a
County Court Representation Scheme. |

group offers a community service to assist the elderly and other clients
with their household chores and shopping. The main aim is
to enable older people and other members of the community to continue
living independently at home, by helping with tasks that are essential for
everyday living. The service is available from Monday to Friday
between 9.00am - 4.00pm for a minimum of 1 hour and maximum of 2/3 hours a
week

Sussex (South) Council for Voluntary Service, more popularly known as the
CVS, acts as an umbrella organisation to Community Groups and voluntary
organisations. It provides a wide range of information and support to
community and voluntary groups in the Burgess Hill area, bringing
them together for mutual support to identify local needs and develop ideas
for action. Services provided include funding information, training
events and a regular newsletter packed with useful information. A meeting room, with kitchen
facility, can be hired at very reasonable rates by local community
groups and voluntary organisations. The room seats up to 50 people,
has wheelchair access and a hearing loop system. A TV and video,
overhead projector and flip chart are available on request.
