An environmental improvement project is planned at West Park Nature Reserve in Malthouse Lane, which will involve incorporating the former allotment site to enlarge the nature reserve.  The project will involve local residents organisations, the pond warden, conservation groups and residents, particularly children, in caring for their local environment.  

Initial meetings have been held and a survey of local residents carried out.  Proposals include: creating a pond; putting in seating;  tree planting; clearing scrub; creating a nature trail around the site; installing bird and bat boxes; holding occasional environmental community events; providing wheelchair access and appointing site wardens.  Watch this space for further updates on how the project is progressing.
