THE
PLANNING COMMITTEE
The role of the
committee:
The Planning and Transport Committee is a statutory consultee on town
planning applications, strategic planning and highway matters.
The Committee also considers issues such as the Mid Sussex
Local Plan and West Sussex Structure Plan, justices’ and public
entertainment licences, public transport issues and reports and
street naming. The Committee makes recommendations to Mid
Sussex District Council on planning applications. Mid Sussex
District Council, the Local Planning Authority, determines the
applications. Useful links to planning

Committee holds planning surgeries on the Saturday prior to their
meetings. A list of planning surgery dates can be accessed here
- customers are welcome to raise any issues on planning
applications in Burgess Hill and no appointment is
necessary.

years. The results are now in for the May 2007 elections and the
results up to date list of Councillors is below. The new Chairman
of the Council is Chris Thomas-Atkin (left) and the Vice-Chairman is Ian
Simpson.
