There are
three tiers of Local Government that provide services to Burgess Hill:
Burgess
Hill Town Council
- Mid Sussex
District Council - West Sussex
County Council
Burgess Hill Town Council
Burgess Hill Town Council is the
first tier of local government and as such is closest to the community.
The Town Council
has created a Help
Point as a single point of contact to deal with enquiries relating to all
three tiers of local government. The Help Point has also developed
partnerships with a wide range of service providers that do not have a
base in the town.
Partners include Sussex Enterprise,
Enterprise Centre Central Sussex, New Downland Housing Association, West
Sussex Health Authority, Mid Sussex District Council, Trading Standards,
Youth Offending Team, Tourist Board, Sussex Police, Inland Revenue,
Pension Service, West Sussex Careers, Adult Education and
Connexions. Many of these organisations hold surgery
sessions in the Help Point. The Help Point
not only acts as the focal point in the town but also links to
the Town Council's other primary roles of amenity maintenance and community
development. Issues raised by customers
at the Help Point can often be dealt with directly by the Mobile
Maintenance Team or, where appropriate linked to one of the many community
development initiatives.
