Help Point Advice Surgeries

Help Point logoBurgess Hill Town Council Help Point holds the following Advice Surgeries.

TUESDAY

Housing & Council Tax Benefit/Council Tax
09.15 - 11.15am (No Appointment Necessary)

A Benefits Officer from Mid Sussex District Council is on hand to help with claim forms, receive documents to support benefits claims and provide general advice on Housing and Council Tax benefit. Council Tax queries can also be dealt with and arrangements can be made to pay the charge.  Please note that benefits leaflets and forms can be obtained during Help Point opening hours although payments cannot be accepted.

To register a birth you need to bring the discharge papers from the hospital or midwife and if you are not married both you and your partner must attend the surgery.  If you are registering a death you need to bring the medical certificate from the doctor of the deceased.  To make an appointment please telephone the West Sussex County Council Registrar’s Office on 01444 413415.

To make an appointment to be seen at Burgess Hill Town Council Help Point please telephone the Housing Needs Team on 01444 477574.

The Housing Advice Surgery is here to help if you are facing difficulties with your current housing or you need help to look for somewhere to live.  The Housing Advisor can help with applying for a transfer or mutual exchange within social housing, disputes with your landlord,  finding somewhere to live privately, applying for social housing, homelessness, low-cost home ownership, tenancy agreements and much more.

Advisors are here to discuss and offer help regarding access issues for the disabled.

If you wish to speak to your Town Councillor on any local government issues an appointment can be made via Burgess Hill Town Council Help Point on 01444 247726 or with your Town Councillor direct.

Councillor's Planning Surgeries (Tri-Weekly)
09.30 - 10.30
(No Appointment Necessary)

The Planning Committee holds planning surgeries on the Saturday prior to their meetings where customers are welcome to raise any issues on planning applications in Burgess Hill.
