Mid Sussex Book Club

Our annual £2 membership fee gives members access to over 3000 titles where they will pay only 30% of the published cover price (70% discount).

The Railway Book Group

This is a Community Recycling internet Yahoo & Facebook group run by volunteers. It is devoted entirely to keeping useful things out of landfill in Mid Sussex. It is non profit making and is run as a community initiative. It is already used as a resource by schools, charities and community groups in the area and more members are always very welcome.

MUSIC & THE ARTS

West Sussex Accordion Club
A monthly accordion club for all ages and abilities. To accomodate the large numbers the club meets in the Youth Centre, St Andrews Church, Cants Lane, Burgess Hill. Admission: £4 (which includes an interval cup of tea/coffee & biscuits plus the provision of excellent original music scores). All players & guests are very welcome!

This is a very popular and well supported club, where accordionists and enthusiasts of all ages and standards meet to chat, play their party pieces, play with our band (4 part specially written arrangements) conducted by Sue Bennett  (always something for everyone including buskers) and generally have a great time with lashings of accordionistic camaraderie.

The Club usually meets 1.30 - 4.30pm on the last Saturday of the month and the 2012 dates are as follows: 28 Jan, 25 Feb, 31 Mar, 28 Apr, 26 May, 30 Jun, 29 Sept, 27 Oct, 24 Nov, 15 Dec. For more information please contact the Musical Director, Sue Bennett.

The 70 strong chorus meets to rehearse every Tuesday evening at St Paul's Catholic College, Jane Murray Way, at 7.30 p.m. We entertain throughout Sussex and compete at national and local competitions, most notably the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) convention each May. It's great fun to sing unaccompanied, 4 part, close-harmony style. You don't need to be able to read music but you will learn a lot about singing technique when you sing with us. As ‘the Ramblers’ group for the Mid Sussex area, we offer a varied program of walks throughout the year to suit all ages and walking abilities.
Walks are arranged on most Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Bank Holidays, with half day walks of 3 to 6 miles and, for the more energetic, all day walks of 10 to 12 miles. During the summer months there are also Wednesday evening walks (3 to 4 miles) and weekend walking breaks and coach outings with walks.
During the winter months we hold indoor meetings in Haywards Heath, with illustrated talks on a wide range of topics, and social evenings in local pubs.
Whether you are new to walking or an experienced walker, you are welcome to come along and give us a try.
