Hospital Transport

Hospital TransportIf you need assistance with transport to and from hospital, the following services are available to you:

West Sussex County Council produce a leaflet called Planning your Journey To and From NHS Facilities in Central Sussex.  To view this leaflet visit www.westsussex.gov.uk.  Bluebird Community Partnership offer a transport service and take advance bookings on 01444 471919 between 9.30am and 11.30am Monday to Friday, or if it is an URGENT REQUEST, you can contact 07711 034519 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

For details on the St John Ambulance Patient Transport Service telephone 01273 371511 which provides patients with local and long distance transport to and from hospital and also for out-patients visits.

Sussex St Johns Ambulance Service will provide transport within Sussex for a fee of £25 per journey plus £3 per mile (with a minimum of £75). Telephone 01273 371511 for more details.

CARE is a charity based in Haywards Heath and provides transport only within the Haywards Heath/Lindfield area.  For further information contact Neville Way on 01444 455268.

Hospital Travel Costs Scheme

The Department of Health offers financial help under the Hospital Travel Costs Scheme, for patients who are not eligible for medical transport but who do not have sufficient funds to cover the cost of independent travel to hospital.  Application forms HC1 and HC5 and leaflet HC11 are available in the Help Point, Jobcentre Plus offices or by calling 08701 555 455.
