2012 - Be Jubilant!
2012 is a year to celebrate with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June and the Olympic and Paralympics Games in August/September. Over the first weekend of June a ‘nationwide’ celebration will be held to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee providing an opportunity for everyone to get involved.
If you’re thinking of joining in with the Jubilee celebrations by organising a Street Party with your friends and neighbours, the Help Point has put together an information pack on what to do and who to contact. Residents can download a copy from Burgess Hill Town Council’s website www.burgesshill.gov.uk or pick up a copy from the Help Point, at 96 Church Walk.
To mark 60 years of the Queen’s reign, a selection from the Queen’s commemorative collection will be on sale at Burgess Hill Town Council’s Help Point at 96 Church Walk. Items include Mug and Spoon Sets and 100% cotton Tea Towels. The Help Point also has an array of other goodies for sale, including locally sourced honey and honey products, walking and cycling books, art work by local artists and souvenirs for the Games.
Chris Thomas-Atkin, Town Mayor commented: “2012 is most certainly a year to celebrate with both the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics and Paralympics taking place. It is an ideal opportunity for residents to join in the celebrations by holding a Street Party with friends and neighbours or to buy a souvenir as a memento of these prestigious events.”
