BURGESS HILL BONFIRE CELEBRATIONS

The Burgess Hill Bonfire Society Procession, Bonfire and Fireworks took place on Saturday 24th September 2016. Town Mayor Jacqui Landriani formed part of the judging panel for the procession.

The Town Mayor said "On behalf of Burgess Hill Town Council and residents, I should like to thank the Burgess Hill Bonfire Society for their hard work in co-ordinating a wonderful event on Saturday. Having been part of the judging panel for the visiting societies, bands, banners and individual adults and children, I caught a glimpse of how much work had gone on in to the organisation not just on the day but over the months leading up to the 24th. I was particularly moved by the short service at the War Memorial prior to the two processions which culminated in a wonderful firework display and bonfire.

The event was truly a team effort with some members experiencing an 18 hour day on the Saturday and then returning to Fairfield Recreation Ground on Sunday to continue the tidy up. We hope you will continue your amazing work in enabling Burgess Hill to experience a wonderful tradition."
