PROGRESS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CULTURAL QUARTER

Burgess Hill Town Councillors have approved further work to begin on delivering its aspirations for the Cultural Quarter.

Following on from work done by the Steering Group, which consisted of Councillors and Community Groups, the report from DCA Consultants was accepted and the recommendations made at Council we approved. These recommendations included accepting the need for a flexible arts and performance space in the centre of town that can seat 250 people.

Burgess Hill Town Council will now engage with architects, explore fund raising possibilities and the future management style for the Centre. Councillor Richard Cherry, who has chaired the working group, said he was delighted with the way the community had embraced the concept and looked forward to continue to work in partnership with the community as a whole.
