West
Park Reserve is a pocket nature reserve on the western side of
Burgess Hill that was purchased by the
Town Council in 1988.
Access
to the area is from Poveys Close car park via
the kissing gate and from Malthouse
Lane via another kissing gate.
The site consists of pockets of native trees with areas of open
grass. There
is a variety of wild flowers and hedgerows of mixed native species, which
provide good habitat for birds and mammals. Limited maintenance
is carried out on the site in
order to ensure natural features and habitats are retained. This is
supplemented by work teams from the Burnside Centre for adults with
learning difficulties as part of their community integration programme.
West
Park reserve is owned and maintained by Burgess
Hill Town Council. For further information contact 01444 247726 or
helppoint@burgesshill.gov.uk. The Town Council is currently developing a
community project at
the site in conjunction with local residents and conservation
groups. Download

Park Crescent and a map indicating
the proposed plans.
