Shopwatch
Burgess Hill has a well established Shopwatch Scheme with 31 town centre shops actively participating. The Group works closely with Burgess Hill Town Council and Sussex Police and meets monthly at the Town Council offices.
The aim of the Group is to stamp out theft and anti-social behaviour in the town and there is a close working relationship with neighbouring Shopwatch schemes and local schools.
In 2007, a highly commended award was presented to the Group by the then Assistant Chief Constable Jeremy Paine for the contribution that the Group has made to the policing of the town centre. The award was issued by the Government’s Respect Department which is part of the Home Office.
