Amberley Working Museum
(45 minutes from Burgess Hill)

Amberley Museum is a 36 acre open-air site set in the South Downs National Park. Dedicated to recording the industrial heritage of the South East, exhibits include a narrow-gauge railway and historic bus service (both provide free nostalgic travel around the site), a Connected Earth telecommunications hall, an electricity hall, a printing workshop and much more. The Museum is also home to traditional craftspeople, such as the broom-maker, blacksmith and potter, plus a restaurant, gift shop and numerous picnic areas where the lovely countryside surroundings can be enjoyed. Arundel Wetland Centre
(45 minutes from Burgess Hill)

Set in 200 acres of spectacular parkland, visitors have the option to take a lakeside walk and enjoy the amazing local wildlife or they can participate in a spot of fishing.  Arundel Wetland Centre offers a varied programme of events and activities for all ages. Bedelands Farm Local Nature Reserve, Burgess Hill

Beech Hurst Park & Miniature Railway, Haywards Heath
(10 minutes from Burgess Hill)

This popular local heritage park covers an area of just under 6 hectares and hosts some beautiful views of the South Downs and has a wide range of facilities on offer including the Miniature Railway, Children’s Playground, Croquet Lawn, Artificial Bowling Strip, Petanque Pistes, Restaurant and much more. Fishers Farm Park, Wisborough Green
(30 minutes from Burgess Hill)

The Ashdown Forest
(35 minutes from Burgess Hill)

Originally a deer hunting forest in Norman times, Ashdown Forest is now the largest free public access space in the South East. It is a great place for walking and enjoying spectacular views over the Sussex countryside and is known the world over as the ‘home’ of Winnie-the-Pooh. The Lavender Line
(30 minutes from Burgess Hill)

The Lavender Line is a preserved railway that boats a fantastic family atmosphere in the heart of East Sussex. The railway travels for a two mile round trip between the village of Isfield and Worth Halt located in the Parish of Little Horsted. Tilgate
(20 minutes from Burgess Hill)

The award-winning Tilgate Park Centre is home to over 100 species of animals including the ever-popular meerkats, lemurs, pigs and reindeer. See weird and wonderful creatures such as tapir, serval, capybaras, macaws and chameleons. Take a walk around the famous lakes and woodlands, enjoy the maze and relax in the peaceful, landscaped gardens. Open all year around (excluding 25th Dec).
