Summer Fayre 2026
We were delighted to deliver another fantastic Summer Fayre for Burgess Hill residents on Sunday 14 June 2026, as St John’s Park came alive with a full day of activity.
The park was filled with a real sense of community spirit, with hundreds of people coming together to enjoy a wide range of free entertainment, activities and attractions.
The day began with a vibrant parade led by Burgess Hill Marching Youth, followed by pupils from seven local primary schools – Birchwood Grove, London Meed, Oak Tree Primary, Sheddingdean, Southway Primary, St Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary and The Gattons – alongside community groups Burgess Hill Youth and Girlguides. The parade was kindly sponsored by Burgess Hill District Lions, with parade items proudly made by the Burgess Hill Creative Community.
Visitors were able to explore over 80 stalls, including charities, community organisations and local businesses, offering everything from tombolas and crafts to sports displays and a wide variety of food. Popular choices included the Burgess Hill Bonfire Society BBQ, alongside Greek and Spanish dishes and plenty of sweet treats.
We were pleased to offer a packed programme of performances throughout the day, including dance shows, karate and rugby demonstrations, and a theatre performance. There was also plenty to get involved in, with free activities such as a BMX show from RPM Display, a falconry display from Huxley Birds of Prey, circus skills with Circus All Stars, inflatables from Brighton Bouncy Castles and P.E. activities provided by Triangle Leisure Centre.
Walkabout characters including Glinda and Elphaba from Wicked and Woody and Jessie from Toy Story were a real highlight, proving especially popular with families and creating lots of memorable photo opportunities.
Taking place on the same day was Wheels Through the Years at Fairfield Recreation Ground, and we were pleased to organise and fund a free shuttle bus between the two events. The service was well used throughout the day, and we would like to thank Community Transport for providing the bus and helping connect the two events.
Deputy Town Mayor, Councillor David Eggeton, who officially opened the Fayre, said: “It was amazing to see so many people come together and enjoy such a fantastic day. It was great that the Town Council was able to provide a shuttle bus to Wheels Through the Years, with the two events complementing each other and giving people the opportunity to enjoy both. It really helped make Burgess Hill a destination town for the day.”
