Summer Fayre

Summer Fayre returns for 2024!

This year’s Summer Fayre is bigger than ever! Following the theme ‘Love Sussex’ the event will celebrate the countryside, heritage and community right on our doorstep.
With over 60 charities, community groups and local creatives attending, there will be something for everyone to enjoy at the event this year.

Our new ‘Eco-Zone’ will feature many charities and groups dedicated to making the world a better place to live.
Sussex Green Living will be bringing their eco-float and woodland lorry, with lots of exciting activities for children and families. From planting activities, to recycled games, the team have a whole range of things to do on the day! You can even join them throughout the day for talks on GYO gardening and the wellbeing benefits of connecting with nature. They will be joined by loads of great groups including Action in Rural Sussex, Burgess Hill Swift Supporters and the Badger Trust.

There will be the chance to shop local this year, with lots of brilliant small businesses and local creatives attending the event.
From wax melts to pottery; hand-knitted toys to jewellery, you’re sure to find something you’ll love.
You can even grab some tasty treats at the event in the food zone. With Greek street food, hog roast and much, much more – there’s even a Pimms tent!

Looking for a volunteer opportunity? There’ll be plenty of local charities in attendance.
Show your support, or chat with them for volunteer opportunities.

You can get sporty too, with multiple local sports clubs in attendance.
Try to ‘beat the goalie’, practice your rugby skills, or hit the inflatable target – there are lots of opportunities to get active.

The fun doesn’t stop there!
We even have feathered and furry friends in attendance at this year’s Summer Fayre.
Heath Vets are returning for 2024 to run the dog show from 12 – 2pm. With five classes to enter, your pooch could be in with the chance to win! (More information on the dog show will be released closer to the event date).
Huxleys Birds of Prey Centre will be on-site too, with a static display of some amazing birds of prey. Learn all about the animals, and watch them in action at one of the flying displays throughout the day!

For kids, there will be inflatables, face painting and DJ workshops.
Burgess Hill Creative Community will be running drop-in crafts throughout the day too.
Kids can also meet Zelva the Giant Tortoise, an amazing animatronic run by award-winning street-theatre performers ‘The Flying Buttresses’.

Does that sound like enough?
Well, there’s more! The event will be opened for the second year in a row by the children’s parade. Marvel at the amazing work by local primary schools, who have been working with local community arts charity Same Sky to create some amazing props for the parade. Burgess Hill Marching Youth will lead the parade again for 2024.

Full information will be available closer to the event date in our digital programme.
If you would like further information, or to be part of the day itself, email communityteam@burgesshill.gov.uk.
