South Downs Way – Mountain Bike Guide

Cycling Groups

Centurions Way – The Centurion Way is a 5.5-mile (9km) path that runs between Chichester, Lavant and West Dean using the dismantled Chichester to Midhurst Railway, which closed in 1991. The name, Centurion Way, was suggested by a local schoolboy and is based on the fact that the path crosses the course of a Roman road.

Amberley and Bignor – St Mary’s Church, North Stoke is set in a secluded location near the River Arun and remains virtually unaltered since medieval times. Look out for farmland birds, such as the grey partridge, corn bunting and skylark on the farmland between Rackham Hill and The Burgh.

Peacehaven – Peacehaven is located above the chalk cliffs in East Sussex, where the top southern dip of the South Downs has been eroded by the English Channel.
American founder Charles Neville designed the town using the U.S. grid system which gives the town a unique feel. Peacehaven also coincides with the point where the Greenwich Meridian crosses the English south coast.
