Batchelors Farm Orchard was planted by a team of volunteers and Town Council staff, who braved the mud on Tuesday 28 March 2023, to plant 80 trees in the orchard.
The orchard was officially opened by Town Mayor, Janice Henwood on Saturday 19 August 2023, at the Batchelors Farm Community Picnic. Representatives from local organisations attended the event, helping to celebrate the opening of this brilliant community asset.
The interpretation board, placed in the orchard, gives residents a quick look at the orchard, allowing them to discover each type of tree, and how to pick its fruit.

The orchard is situated in the top field of Batchelors Farm, next to the iconic water tower. Once the trees have fully matured, members of the public will be able to pick fruit from the orchard for their own use. All the trees have now been sponsored by members of the public and dedicated to family and loved ones.
