Holocaust Memorial Day Commemorations
The Town Council commemorated Holocaust Memorial Day at St John the Evangelist Church at 11am on Tuesday 27 January. Representatives from Burgess Hill Mosque and Brighton and Hove Synagogue attended the service adding to the multi faith approach. There was a recognition on the importance of unity from all three speakers.
Town Mayor Stuart Condie welcomed all to the service and introduced the theme of Bridging Generations. He said “It was lovely to see young people from Burgess Hill Academy and Burgess Hill Girls attend and speak so well on the lives of those impacted by genocide. It is important we come together as a community to stop, pause and remember those whose lives have been affected.
The Town Council thank Father David and his team for providing the venue and welcoming us all for refreshments at the end of the service.
