Wowzer Wednesdays

Wowzer Wednesdays are a staple in the Town Council holiday programme. With events in May half-term, the summer holidays and October half-term, there is always something for families to enjoy over the holiday period. Burgess Hill Town Council provides these FREE activities for the benefit of our community.

May Half Term

Opening the Wowzer Wednesday series in style for 2025, the ever popular inflatables return to St John’s Park on Wednesday 28 May, 11am-3pm. There will be an assault course, bouncy pillow, and laser tag for 5-12 year olds to enjoy, and a separate under 5’s area with a small bouncy castle and soft play run by The Triangle.

There’s no need to book, just turn up, register at the designated gazebo to collect your wrist band and off you go!

Please note children must be accompanied at all times and dependant on length, queues may be closed from 2.30pm, to allow the session to finish at 3pm. This event is weather dependant and therefore may be cancelled at late notice or even during the event, please keep an eye on our socials for updates.

We can’t wait to see you there!

October Half Term

Wowzer Wednesday moved to Monday 28th, (as a little Halloween trick!) with Halloween crafts and science sessions at The Kiln. Children enjoyed experiments including gravity testing and guess the weight of the cake! Burgess Hill Creative Community then ran craft sessions on the afternoon.

Summer Holidays

The summer holidays saw 6 Wowzer Wednesdays, all with different activities so hundreds of children were entertained across the holidays! Launching on 24 July with Tale of Jemima Puddleduck by Quantum Theatre, there was then circus skills with Circus Allstars and hilarity at Tom Foolery’s magic shows! Burgess Hill Creative Community ran crafts at the Bandstand and Jolf tested kids skills with their mini golf set up in the Stone Garden. The summer holiday series came to an end with inflatable extravaganza St John’s Park on Wednesday 28 August!

May Half Term

Wowzer Wednesdays in 2024 launched in May half term with over 350 children attending the free inflatables session in St John’s Park! Everyone seemed to have a great time and enjoyed the free fruit provided by Co-Op, as well as the Little Kickers tasters and Triangle Leisure Centre’s soft play.

2023

We had a whole range of fun holiday activities in 2023 for our Wowzer Wednesday programme! May saw our annual inflatables event in St John’s Park with hundreds of happy faces enjoying the sunshine. Summer returned to the town centre with crafts, magic, puppetry and circus skills by the bandstand – another inflatable extravaganza finished out the holidays with a bang! The Witches Mountain returned in October, where children could climb to the highest peak of the climbing wall. Christmas was started in style with a synthetic ice-rink in Church Walk for the December Wowzer Wednesday!
